This was a colourwash bargello quilt which I made on a course run at Patchwork Passion in Onehunga (website here), with Malcolm Angus teaching.
The class was very interesting, and it was good to learn Angus' method of piecing bargello quilts, and how he generates patterns. I had a lot of fun choosing colours, and was able to work with some fabrics that I already had. It was interesting to find some unexpected choices that worked in really well with the colour palette.
I only made a small quilt, as I wanted to try the technique out but needed to do this within a reasonable budget. The other ladies in the class all made full size quilts, and these were stunning when finished. The range of colours and fabric choices within the class was huge, yet all worked really well and created beautiful quilts that reflected each person's taste.
I have made a backing for the quilt, but still have to quilt the layers together and bind the edges. The quilt is currently in Christchurch, as I gave it to Mum, but I will finish it on a trip home and take more photos then.
