A Shoulder Bag

This is a bag that I made for Mum for one of her birthdays. The pattern came from "Patchwork & Stitching" magazine, volume 7 number 11. The original was called a "Vintage Button Bag" and featured buttons all over the side, but I thought this looked naff so I left them off. Because of the way the flaps come out at the side, the bag actually has quite a lot of room in it. And when the flaps are buttoned together, everything stays nice and secure.

I've also made this bag in a bright yellow fabric with bright pink stripes, lined with plain bright pink, for my sister-in-law Natalie.

It was a very satisfying and enjoyable project, and each bag took less than an hour to cut, sew, and finish.

Here is the finished bag when closed.

Here is the bag with the flaps open.

And here is a view of the inside of the bag. The grey check worked really well as a liner.
